About Us
BSA is committed to fulfilling its goals in full compliance with the laws and cultural values of Somaliland, Islamic principles, and UK standards of professionalism. We focus on:
– Organizing educational forums and events led by expert voices
– Promoting awareness through media and social platforms
– Hosting sports, cultural, and networking events
– Supporting educational institutions aligned with the UK curriculum
– Backing charitable organizations that work on diaspora rights and welfare
– Facilitating volunteer and work experience programs for UK-based youth
– Linking professionals to Somali institutions for voluntary or paid knowledge-sharing programs
We envision a strong, connected, and empowered British Somaliland diaspora making a lasting impact in Somaliland. BSA seeks to:
– Unite the diaspora community and foster a sense of belonging
Increase awareness of rights, laws, and systems relevant to returnees
– Support British Somalilanders in addressing challenges during their residency
– Promote the correct teachings of Islam while combating extremist narratives
– Empower members to serve in community leadership and development roles
– Create networks and databases of professionals willing to contribute their skills
– Provide care, protection, and inclusion for vulnerable members: children, the elderly, disabled, and mentally challenged individuals
The creation of BSA was inspired by a simple but powerful need: to ensure British Somalilanders are supported, represented, and protected as they navigate life in Somaliland. Many returnees face challenges adapting to new systems, finding opportunities, or receiving guidance on legal, cultural, or social matters. BSA exists to provide that safety net, voice, and community structure.
🚀 What Makes Us Unique
BSA is not just an association; it is a community movement. We are driven by the experiences and aspirations of those who have lived abroad and returned home with hope, skills, and a desire to give back.
We understand the hybrid identity of being both British and Somali—and we use that dual heritage to build something powerful: a generation of active, engaged returnees working together to shape Somaliland’s future.
