Bridging Two Worlds: Empowering British Somalilanders at Home

The British Somaliland Association (BSA) serves as a bridge between the UK and Somaliland, supporting returnees, fostering unity, and promoting impactful engagement across the diaspora.

About BSA
Rooted in Community. Driven by Purpose.

The British Somaliland Association was formed to address the growing needs of British Somalilanders living in Somaliland. With no full British embassy present in the country, BSA acts as a trusted support network—offering guidance, services, and a collective voice for its members.

What We Do

Our Purpose
To ensure British Somalilanders are not alone in their transition. We help you settle, thrive, and contribute to the development of Somaliland—socially, economically, and culturally.

Youth Work Experience

We help young British Somalilanders living in the UK gain valuable experience by connecting them with work opportunities in Somaliland. Through a structured application and vetting process, we match youth with institutions aligned with their interests, enabling them to contribute meaningfully to local development while strengthening their personal and professional growth.

Legal & Rights Awareness

Navigating legal systems and understanding your rights can be difficult in a new environment. BSA hosts regular forums, workshops, and awareness campaigns to educate the diaspora community about legal changes, immigration procedures, land rights, and more—ensuring members are well-informed and protected.

Skills Sharing & Volunteering

Many British Somalilanders bring expertise in fields like healthcare, education, business, and engineering. BSA facilitates structured volunteering and skill exchange programs, connecting these experts to local institutions and community initiatives. Whether on a short-term or long-term basis, members can contribute to nation-building through their unique experiences.

Cultural & Social Events

We create opportunities for connection, celebration, and understanding. From sports tournaments and cultural trips to holiday gatherings and community festivals, our events foster social bonds, strengthen identity, and bring together British Somalilanders of all ages and backgrounds.

Community Support

We believe in leaving no one behind. Our programs focus on supporting the most vulnerable within the British Somaliland community—children, the elderly, persons with disabilities, and those facing mental health challenges. We work to strengthen care services, promote access to essential support systems, and build inclusive structures for all.
